Auto-transformers are the self-coupling transformers that integrates the primary winding and secondary winding, with the original and auxiliary coils connected directly in series.

Because the primary winding and secondary winding does not need to be insulated, it has the advantages of small-sized, less consumable and highly efficient compared with ordinary transformers of the same capacity.
